FAMILY PROGRAM – 18TH CENTURY GARDEN TO TABLE
AT MONTCLAIR HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Montclair Historical Society is launching the first in a series of FAMILY PROGRAMS:
“18TH Century Garden to Table” on Saturday, June 7 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon at the Israel Crane House Museum, 110 Orange Rd., Montclair. Children are invited to share this historical cooking and tasting adventure with an adult from their “families.”
First, participants can watch us gather spring’s bounty from our 18th century kitchen garden, and let the smells transport them to the 1700s. Then they can join in the fun by making treats using 18th century recipes, fresh herbs, rhubarb, and miniature strawberries. Finally, participants can enjoy the “fruits” of their labor and ours, tasting additional delicacies made from our garden’s gooseberries and currants.
The cost is $25 for one child including one adult; $10 each additional family member. Space is limited, so please register early by mailing a check made to “Montclair Historical Society” to 108 Orange Rd., Montclair, NJ 07042-2133. For more information call 973-744-1796 or e-mail through mail@montclairhistorical.org.
